Why do I write? After undergoing a life altering period, I needed a way to express my hurt, anger, sadness, love, fear, and remorse. I found that journaling was a very effective way to express these thoughts. I discovered in time that there was some other influences in those writings that could possible inspire, encourage, or motivate others towards healing or expressing themselves. I have dabbled in the spoken word arena and I am working at becoming a more prolific artist within that venue.

Written expression can often times be more effective than a spoken word. Even though spoken words convey emotion and attitude through inflection, the written words and thoughts of a person goes a long way towards framing more imaginative processes of outlining thoughts and allows the reader the freedom to "paint pictures" that reflects themselves in a very personal way.

Although my writings were intended to reflect my own personal experiences and emotions, it's easy to see how the reader may wish to "plug in" to my written expressions their own personal insights. This to me  has to be the freest, most universal form of communication.

Psalm 116 - According to Noir

I love God because he listens to me, listens as I beg always for His mercy. He listens intently as I lay out my case daily before him. Even when Death stared me in the face and the consequences of hell were hard on my heels; up against it when I didn't know which way to turn; that's when I called out to God for help saying, "Please, God!" I cried out, "Save my life!"

God is merciful—it is he who makes things right, our most compassionate God. God took sides with me; when I was at the end of my rope, he saved me. I said to myself, "Relax and rest. God has showered you with blessings. Soul, you've been rescued from death; Eye, you've been rescued from tears; And you, Foot, were kept from stumbling."

I'm striding in the presence of God, even today in these very difficult times and encourage you to do likewise! I stayed faithful, though frustrated, and despite a ton of bad luck.

What can I give back to God for the blessings he's poured out on me? I will praise His name and that's all I gotta say about that!

Song of Solomon Chapter 4 - According to Noir

My love, you are gorgeous, so very beautiful -- your eyes are as gentle and faithful as those of a dove as they peer out behind the flowing, shimmering veil of your hair covering your face. Wherever you go, you always command notice—all heads turn in awe and admiration!

Your hair tosses about as gracefully as a flock of goats in the distance streaming down a hillside in the sunshine. Your smile is generous and full -- expressive and strong and clean -- alluring and wonderful and it always warms my heart...

Your lips are jewel red, your mouth elegant and inviting, your veiled cheeks soft and radiant - giving off the most subtle glow of health and beauty.

Your neck; supple, slender, graceful - always adorned with gold, silver, and diamonds is a work of art in and of itself - finding no equal amongst other women or any thing created by the hand of man.

Your breasts are perfect; Ooooh how perfect they are! Moving seductively beneath your camisol like twin deer grazing amongst the first flowers of the Spring.

The sweet, fragrant curves of your body, mmmmm..... the soft, spiced contours of your flesh invite me, and I come. I stay until dawn breathes its light and night slips away.

Baby, you're beautiful from head to toe, my dear love; beautiful beyond compare. To me, you're absolutely flawless!

Proverbs 31 - According to Noir

My brotha, find yourself a good wife! Now, a good wife is very hard to find – almost as rare as finding a raw diamond while walking down the street. She would never even dream of wronging you and you can trust her with everything. She is so selfless, that your concerns are hers and she considers how everything she does effects you.

This woman has an eye for quality and lives to shop – doing so wisely and economically and brings home unique and precious surprises. She makes sure her family’s needs are met as well as organizing her day before heading out. She’s an enterprising woman, buying and selling real estate as a side venture and then re-investing the profits. She is not afraid of working to help support her household either; in fact she looks forward to it and is eager to get her work day started.

Her talents are many; she wears many different hats – seamstress; designing and selling the clothes that she makes, chef, interior decorator, hostess, mother, friend, lover – the home is her domain yet she can put herself together with style. Yes, she can also clean herself up for an outing with her husband. She's quick to assist anyone in need, reaches out to help the poor. She is a woman who knows her worth.

A man who finds such a woman as a wife, will never be disappointed! The way he describes his wife with the other brothas; her business savvy, ability to take care of the home, and the ways she takes care of herself, brings him accolades and great respect. Whenever she speaks you can count on knowing that she definitely has something worthwhile to say, and she always does so with eloquence.

Even their children respect, love, and bless her; echoing every word her husband says about her. In his heart he has even thought, "There are many women out there, good professional women, all capable of doing wonderful things, but this woman, she is one in a million – in a class all her own!"

They say, charm is deceptive and beauty soon fades but the woman who wins the heart of a Godly man is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-GOD. Brotha, give her everything she deserves! Complimenting her continuously is not a bad idea because you know she is well worth it. When you do finally find her, be prepared and do not let her get away!

Psalm 23 - According to Noir

My God watches every thing I do and provides for me all that I need for today. The path my life has been set on is one of peace and serenity and comfort as long as I am obedient to His word. Let me give you the praise!!!

Even when I find myself in the midst of difficult times and I feel pressured and attacked on all sides, He's right there - walking with me! The strength of His love and the assusrance of His good guidance gives me focus and confidence. Who could ever defeat me now!

Those who antagonize me and speak negatively against me behind my back have reason to scoff as they see the many blessings He places in my life and wonder, "Why is he so uplifted when we know all of the troubles going on in his life?" Lord, you bless me beyond all of my expectation!

And I say in my heart, "Lord because you are merciful your unfailing love for me follows me and overcomes me and will be my refuge for as long as I live... and when my time here is up and you call me home, I'll sit in your grace for eternity"

Amen

Look Within

I stared in the mirror
as I started my day
with soap on my face
here's what I say
"Who is this man, gazing back at me?"
Does he find something there that I can not see?
Does know about my past
full of heartbreaks and pain
or my tears in the rain
or the many strange thoughts that run through my brain?
Does he know that my heart yearns for a love so unique
that when trying to describe it, no words can I speak.
So I question the man looking right back at me
Will today be the day God and I will agree
and I come face to face with the one just for me?
Or will tomorrow be the best day of my life
and I find what I seek - my best friend or a wife?
Once again in the mirror
That man looking at me
asked a curious question
and then I started to see
The thing I was seeking wasn't
out on the streets,
Hoping that somehow we'd eventually meet
No, that thing I desired was deep down inside
It wasn’t concealed or trying to hide
He was standing right there
With a smile on his face
I gave a smile back, though it seemed out of place
and looked at him again, just in case
So that I would remember
that the god-man in me
was sufficiently capable of
being all he could be
That was the man that I met on this day
Who looked deep within me
and showed me the way

Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry CHRIST-mas!!!

What is Christmas to you and do you celebrate it? I am not celebrating it in the traditional "secular" way. We both know that Christmas is about acknowledging the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

How can I, as a Christian, not recognize the day? December 25th may not be the actual date of His birth, but it is the only nationally recognized day set aside for that purpose. How we choose to recognize the day is what makes us different from the rest of the world.

Recall in Job 3, Job's children all celebrated their birthdays. The Bible says that Jobs seven sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them (Job 1:4).

I believe that the reason that Job prayed for them is because he either suspected or knew that they were not honoring God in their celebrations.

I am convinced that the dissatisfaction is in what they did during the celebrations and NOT the celebrations themselves. Remember, we are to do all things as if for the Lord - not for ourselves.

The original celebration of "Christ-mas" was a day set apart due to the actions of those that came to worship the baby Jesus. The emphasis being on the "worship" which in most churches today is actually a celebration.

Traditionally from day one, worship was also coupled with gift giving. The big problem today is that people have forgotten or have never known the true meaning of it and have turned it into the thing that we detest!

I believe that we as Christians adopted the December 25th date as a way to combat the pagan winter solstice celebration. Yet, we have now become like them and now glorify Santa Clause or St. Nicholas.

Did you know that St. Nicholas is an actual saint? See even that man was associated with Christianity.

Anyway, what I wanted to say was the the traditions need to be sorted out properly. I choose to not put up a tree but have no problems hanging lights and exchanging gifts.

I believe the lights represent the stars in the heavens on the night of the celebration of Jesus' birth and the gifts tokens of worship to God, honor and respect to the King, and the suffering of the Messiah.

The gifts as described in the Bible are Gold, Frankincense, and Myrrh.

Gold was the usual offering presented to kings by their subjects, or those wanting to pay respect.

Frankincense is highly fragrant when burned, and was, therefore, used in worship.

Myrrh was used chiefly in embalming the dead, because it had the property of preserving them from putrefaction. (John 19:39). Myrrh then is brought as a gift to acknowledge the human suffering that Jesus partook of when He came into our world.

So while the world celebrates the season with gifts and jovial activity and good cheer, we as Christian are to be of good faith, joy, and hope.

We can and should celebrate the birth of our our King, our Lord Jesus, and our Messiah on His day. To do any less would seem to take away from our fidelity in Him.

Is there power in the words???

When it is said that, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. " - Proverbs 18:21, what is it really saying and what does it mean?

Who Are They Anyway?

Alright, so why is it that whenever a group of us are having a discussion somebody brings in the “They” crowd? “They” are always usually interjected into the conversation in a hushed voice, as if we don’t want “Them” to hear us talking about “Them”. We always listen to what “They” have to say about something and sometimes even make decisions based on “Their” opinion but why? What do “They” know that we don’t know? By the way, does anybody even know who “They” are anyway?

See, I believe that “They” are actually agents of “The Man”. “The Man” of course being the overseer of a totally anonymous, invisible, secret conglomerate of society’s so-called conspiracy entities known as “The Establishment” who have an agenda to continually suppress “The Little Guy”. On a more global level, President Bush stumbled upon a sect of “The Establishment” known as “The Axis of Evil” a small collective of the “Evil Empire” permeating the terrorist world. He even managed to associate Saddam Hussein as one of “Their” prime operatives. (You go Bush -daddy!!!)

While I do suppose that “They” are contributors to disrupting most of the world’s progress by recycling axioms usually preceded by the words, “Well, you know what they say…” The fact is that we don’t actually know if what they say is really what “They” said. How are we to know that they even know what “They’re” talking about. As one author puts it, “Everyone knows that boys are better than girls at math, that spicy foods upset the stomach while milk is soothing, and that lemmings drown themselves en masse. Likewise, we all believe that strange things happen during a full moon, that people become more conservative as they get older, and that stomach cramps will sink a swimmer who goes in the water too soon after eating”(You Know What They Say - The Truth About Popular Beliefs. New York: HarperCollins, 1990). The only trouble with all this is that who is going to prove whether it’s correct or not? Rarely, in fact, do we bother to question what "They" say let alone check to see if “They” are right or not.

In the writing of this blog, I discovered that “They” actually have a website named, what else - they.com. Read this with caution as I’m sure that “They” have a way of tracking your access back to your computer and planting a virus in your favorite solitaire game or erasing your critically important jpeg file of your dog’s first birthday party or something. Because, you know what “They” say - nothing is safe on the internet these days. Somebody’s always watching.

Who’s that!!!!

What's Love Got to Do With It?

Somebody please help me out here. When in a relationship, Love is a primary binding factor - but is anything else really needed besides Love? What about trust? What IS trust? I don't think it's so much a factor of whether or not a person can trust me but if they trust themselves. According to the Bible, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." This meaning that we are only as we see ourselves. If we are not trustworthy, we tend to not trust in others. Trust is an unspoken bond. You make it when you accept responsibility for another's emotions and they entrust with you with securing their heart. What we do with that trust dictates the degree of commitment we make to a person.

So, Love = Trust + Commitment? Is that the correct equation or should it be more like; Love = Trust + Faith? Where do things like financial responsibility, quality time, and good common sense fall into the mix? Is it possible to Love logically or is this a game for the Emotions only? Wouldn't a logically thinking man find a more practical way to handle the problems of Love? I mean, he’d probably factor in the other things that emotions leave out thus creating and environment where Peace of Mind can foster Confidence which could be translated as Trust: Trust being equivalent to Security. Security promotes Respect which is reciprocated by “Love”.

I’m just a man of logic… Fortunately for me, I also incorporate emotions. I find it utterly unwise to undertake an endeavor like Love without at least attempting to factor in the unexpected. In today’s modern-age, it has become a requirement to establish where people are starting from in order to map out a course of success in a relationship. Baggage is allowed on this ride (max of 2 please), as long as you keep them stored in the baggage car along with everyone else’s and avoid riffling through other people’s baggage stored there. However clearly label your baggage so as to not accidentally take someone else’s at your final destination.

So, is the most successful relationship built on the old principle of Love alone or on a new paradigm?

WhaTs LoVe Got To Do WiTh It?

Who gives to this feeling, who needs to the find its meaning
When time is too much to give, when short is life to live
Where truth turns to lies, where the weary spirit cries
Why wasn't it given back, why is there so much lack
How hard it is to see, how easy it is to simply be
In Love..... So
Whats Love Got To Do with It

Fasting is Really Slow Going!

Well, my 40 day fast turned into a 10-day fast. It was an experience and the Lord revealed a number of things to me. Fasting, praying, studying the Word, and being obedient are the things that make up our spiritual walk and the man who endeavors to seek after the Lord in such a way deserves a blessing. Well, I believe that I got just that! My walk was strengthened and my attitude changed. I have a true spirit of appreciation for what the Lord gives us in the way of food, life, shelter, family and loved ones, etc. It’s difficult for me now to take any of those things for granted any longer.

I also learned a lesson in obeying God’s word. I had seen Him work miracles in the life of the believer while on my fast and many times after it ended. Through it all, I am reminded of the scripture in 1 Samuel 15: 22-23 “Does the LORD really want sacrifices and offerings? No! He doesn't want your sacrifices. He wants you to obey him. Rebelling against God or disobeying him because you are proud is just as bad as worshiping idols or asking them for advice”. This was significant to me because Satan created circumstances which brought me face-to-face with His word and I was tested. The outcome of that testing… will remain between the Lord and me – but I wll say that I am a better man because of it.

So, I lasted all of 10 days on a vegetable and water/100% fruit juice fast. It was invigorating and challenging. I went from 177lbs down to 165lbs during that time. I ended after 10 days because I was not able to perform my job adequately while maintaining that fast. The Lord and I have a deal though… I will complete 40 days of fasting through the remainder of the year so I still have 30 days to go.

Anyway, that’s that… I recommend that all Christians seeking a spiritual breakthrough go through at least 5 days of fasting in a month and endeavor to do a full 40 days per year. 40 is a break through number in the Bible. Moses, Ezekiel, and Jesus all endured 40 day fasts and received a revelation afterwards. There is an example there for all of us. The Lord hears the prayers of the obedient and blesses those whom He will bless.
